Chief
My name is “Chief”. I am a 10-year-old black Lab and my mother was a drug K-9 for the
Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department. I am the mascot and thief deterrent at Moncks
Corner Rural Fire Department, and I became the mascot in 2000 so that I could ride on as
many fire trucks that I want whenever I want. I have had training in “drug sniffing.”
I really run the department. The guys always bring me ice cream and chips, and I have my
own office with my name on the door. When I am in my truck (the mobile doghouse), if I don’t
know you, don’t even think about getting in or petting me. While I’m in the truck, I listen to
country music and always have the air conditioning on.
